Meet our newest Wing Coordinator - Greg Mandas
Wing 1 (SE NY, NYC, SW CT)
Growing up, LBCs were ubiquitous in my home town. The high school home coming court always rode in cars supplied by the local British car dealership. My first car was a Sunbeam Alpine. After college I picked up a MK1 Triumph GT6. Then came family, mortgages and a college tuition. Eight years ago my credit union sent me an email advertisement "Finance your next car with us." Thinking, "What the heck." I submitted an eBay ad for a Charleston SC BJ8 I was interested in. Two days later Jamie from the loan department called telling me my financing was ready.
My car is an original 1965 Old English White, early Phase 2 BJ8. Stored in a barn for 30 years she currently has 45K miles, 7K of which are mine. Restoration is a slow work in progress as I do most of my own work. I'm in the mode of restoring anything I can unbolt and send out to be rebuilt. I can see body and interior on the horizon. Along with working on the BJ8, I work part time for Southern Connecticut State University as a carpenter and shop foreman in the theater department building sets and working with the students on set construction.
