My association with Healey’s began in college at Ohio State. During Rush Week for fraternity someone showed up in a Healey with a Pontiac 387 tri-power under the bonnet, a very early Nasty Boy. He joined the fraternity and became my little brother. I bought my first Healey, a 1964 BJ-8 in my junior year. Drove it cross-country a couple of times and put 120,000 miles on it before selling it when I got married and then transferring from Los Angeles to Orlando. For the next 30 years I lamented selling it and couldn’t wait to get another Healey. Twenty years ago, when living in Sacramento, California I bought my current car on EBAY. Since then, it was mechanically rebuilt at British Car Specialists in Stockton, Ca. by the Nock’s. Since the rebuild, we’ve traveled another 80,000 miles together including three F-1’s in Montreal, a tour of the maritime providences of Canada, Gettysburg, and numerous Club events. In the summer it becomes my daily driver.
I served for two years as our AHC NE Club President and along with Bob Britton introduced the Wing concept to the Club.
I look forward to being the link between our Club and the national organization in the role of Club Delegate. If you have any comments or suggestions regarding the national club and our New England Chapter, feel free to share them with me at: [email protected]
